Modern Standard Arabic is the standard written language used across the Middle East and North Africa. Most printed materials in the Arab world are written in Modern Standard Arabic including books, newspapers, magazines, official documents, and educational primers. However, despite this widespread understanding, it is not commonly used in speech.
